Amingaon police outpost personnel shifted to reserve

GUWAHATI, Nov 4 � All the police officers and jawans of Amingaon police outpost have been shifted to police reserve after reports of involvement of Rafique, a constable of the police outpost, cropped up in the sensational Chandan Das murder case.

Police said that the step has been taken to facilitate free and fair investigation into the heinous killing of the student for ransom in Amingaon area. Chandan�s beheaded body was found on Sunday near Boko.

An officer of the rank of SP will head the investigation. A person has also been arrested in this connection and several others are being questioned.

Police said that the accused in this case have been identified and searches are being conducted in Dhubri and West Garo hills and other probable hide-outs.

Police added the deceased knew the culprits and one of them even stayed in the victim�s house.

The vehicle which was used to abduct Chandan has been recovered, police said.

Chandan was abducted on October 27 and killed on the same day, police said, although the abductors tried to mislead the police and demanded Rs 30 lakh as ransom.

�It could be a case of personal enmity,� police added.
