AMC and LADC polls held peacefully

AIZAWL, Nov 26 - Elections to Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) held simultaneously on Thursday was peaceful with no untoward incident reported, Election department said.

While counting of votes for AMC polls was held in a designated place of each ward this evening after the completion of polling, counting for LADC polls would be undertaken on November 28. The voter turn-out for AMC polls as stated by State Election Commission was 63.55 per cent.

Of the 19 wards under AMC, six are reserved for women. There were 54 candidates in fray for the AMC polls. As for the election to LADC, which consist of 25 members, 62.21 per cent voters cast their votes till 1 pm.
