GUWAHATI, April 15 - The 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar was observed in the Northeast Frontier Railway Headquarter complex at Maligaon here today.
A large number of officers and staff were present on the occasion for paying floral tribute to Dr Ambedkar, said an official statement.
Ratan Lal, Additional General Manager of NFR inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Probe ordered: Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today asked Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia to institute a probe as to why the 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar was not observed by the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration in a befitting manner yesterday.
Viewing the lapses on the part of the district administration with all seriousness, he asked the Chief Secretary to find out the lapses and to fix up the responsibility accordingly. He asked Pipersenia to probe the matter immediately and submit a report to him for necessary action.
