Amarjyoti remanded to judicial custody

GUWAHATI, July 31 � The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup today remanded Amarjyoti Kalita, the prime accused in the July 9 molestation incident, to judicial custody.

Kalita�s five days police custody ended today.

The bail petition was rejected on the ground that the case is still under investigation and some of the co-accused are yet to be arrested and stolen

articles like gold chain are yet to be recovered.

Meanwhile, an additional charge was levelled against Amarjyoti Kalita which relates to creating obstruction to police from discharging their duty.

Meanwhile, Amarjyoti, in his statement has said that journalist Gaurab Jyoti Neog is not known to him, while Binoy Kalita, whose involvement in the July 9 molestation case is being investigated, is known to him. However, he mentioned that he is not aware whether the journalist was present there or not during the incident.
