GUWAHATI, Nov 4 � The Amal Prova Das Sarvodaya Award for the year 2014 will be awarded to renowned social worker Pritikana Das. The meeting of the celebration committee of the 103rd birth anniversary of late Amal Prova Das held on October 22, at the Sarania Ashram under the presidentship of Hema Kakoty, finalised the name of Pritikana Das for the award, who is a devoted follower of Gandhiji and Vinobaji.
The award will be presented on November 12 at a public meeting to be held at the Sarania Ashram on the occasion of the 103rd birth anniversary of Amal Prova Das.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000 only, a sarai, an endi chadar and a felicitation.
Pritikana Das joined Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust, Assam branch in the year 1955 under the inspiration of Amal Prova Das. To mark the occasion of the birth anniversary, the celebration committee also decided to award three orphan poor girl students with a monthly scholarship of Rs 500. This was stated in a press release.
