Altaf Mazid commemorative meeting today

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, April 28 - Several city-based cultural organisations have teamed up to hold a commemorative meeting at 6 pm tomorrow at the Kanaklal Borooah Auditorium of the Assam State Museum here, in memory of noted filmmaker Altaf Mazid, who breathed his last in Bengaluru on April 13 following a cardiac arrest. The meeting has been named Montageot Altaf.

Mazid, on top of all of his cinematic ventures, single-handedly restored and reconstructed the first Assamese film Joymati with the help of the available video footage and premiered internationally at several international film festivals.

Mazid was known for his experimental approach towards filmmaking and was a great source of inspiration for the upcoming filmmakers of the State.

To commemorate his contributions, the Guwahati unit of the Indian Peoples Theatre Association (IPTA), Pragjyoti Cultural Society, Gauhati Cine Club, Surya, Saurav Kumar Chaliha Fan Society and family members and friends of Altaf Mazid will hold the meeting.
