GUWAHATI, Feb 19 The electorate of the state might refrain from giving a decisive mandate to a single party in the coming Assembly election resulting in a coalition government. This is the prediction of the Assamese almanac Kalpurush Purnanga Panjika for the year 2015-16 which was released today.

In its 32nd edition, the Kalpurush which has become a household name by now, has also predicted retirement of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi from politics.

According to the publisher of Kalpurush, Ranjit Kumar Saikia, the coming New Year which starts from the first of Bohag will be a mixed year of conflict and prosperity for the state. The ruling Congress will be cornered by the conspiracy of the dissident faction of the party who will be having a good time in politics. The leader of the dissident group will witness a rise in his political fortunes, said Saikia adding that the almanac also foresees many Congress leaders and members quitting the party.

There is also a probability of the emergence of a new political party in the state that will make its presence felt in a strong way.

On the other hand, the almanac does not see good days ahead for regional parties. It says that the Asom Gana Parishad will experience crisis in the coming days.

Though the BJP will strengthen its base in the state it will face hurdles in forming the next government on its own, said Saikia.

The almanac further says that the BPF will become a partner of BJP and that Ajmal and his party will be on an winning journey.

The almanac also predicts that the issue of dams will create turmoil in the state and that the anti-dam movement will become more vigorous and aggressive resulting in the loss of lives.
