Alma mater dedicates wall magazine to Bhupenda

DHEKIAJULI, Nov 26 � Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary bard of India was once upon a time a student of Tezpur Govt High School, which has presently been upgraded to higher secondary stage. He passed matriculation examination from this school in 1940.

His father Nilakanta Hazarika admitted his son in class VII in 1936. On November 22 last, teachers and students of the school in the presence of several educationists and social workers remembered Bhupen Hazarika�s life and dedicated a wall magazine in the name of Bhupen Hazarika, ex-student of the school, under guidance of Luna Bora Kalita, subject teacher and Babita Das, with information regarding the life of Sangeet Surjya Hazarika.

The present principal Naren Barman with the cooperation of his teaching staff recovered the academic record of Dr Hazarika and other information. When Bhupen Hazarika was promoted to class VIII, he obtained 57 (100) in English 1st paper, 61 (100) in English II paper, 25 (100) Mathematics, MIL 57 (100), Sanskrit 56 (100), History 35 (100), Geography 60 (100). In class IX examination, he obtained in English 1st paper 50 (100), 2nd paper 57 (100), Sanskrit 48 (100), History 48 (100), Geography 30 (100) and Advanced Maths 30 (100).

In the test examination of matriculation examination, in Eng I 54 (100), Eng II 54 (100, Eng III paper 25 (50), MIL I 59 (100), MIL II 48 (100), Maths 53 (100), Classical 48 (100), History 53 (100), Geography 53 (100) and Advanced Math 52 (100.

Though Teacher Himadhar Gogoi, Gopinath Gogoi, Dandinath Kalita, Sushil Lahiri, Kanu Ram Das were no more today, they shaped the life of Dr Hazarika along with other students.

At Tezpur, Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla and Bishnu Prasad Rava shaped the musical life of little Hazarika. Tezpur, the cultural capita of Assam shaped the life of Sudhakantha.
