Alliance Air to resume services

SHILLONG, July 18 � A year after Alliance Air discontinued its air service from Meghalaya over payment issues, the airlines has decided to resume its services between Kolkata and Shillong in Meghalaya besides Tezpur and Lilabari in Assam from August 1.

Alliance Air discontinued its air service in many cities of the northeast over payment dispute under the viability gap funding borne by the North Eastern Council (NEC).

The NEC, a regional planning body for the eight northeastern states, paid Rs.49 crore annually through viability gap funding to Alliance Air, which is a subsidiary of national carrier Air India, for operating air services in the region.
