KAZIRANGA, April 23 - Assam Forest Minister Pramilla Rani Brahma has made it categorically clear that any section of candidates living in Kaziranga could apply for the jobs to be filled for the vacant posts at the DFO office, Bokakhat. She was responding to the queries of mediapersons at Kaziranga recently when asked about the protest made by some organisations at the DFO office where it was alleged that the recently published advertisement had asked for only SC candidates to apply for jobs in the Forest department.

Brahma was speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a programme organised by authority of Kaziranga National Park in association with Assam Forest Officers Wives Welfare Society and Prabhakar Baruah Memorial Trust, where the supreme sacrifices made by Late Gautam Baruah, a forest staff who laid down his own life during patrolling in Bagori range of Kaziranga National Park was publicly acknowledged by many including Brahma. It is worth mentioning that Late Baruah was attacked by a rhino and her calf and seriously injured. He succumbed to his injury at Jakhalabandha hospital recently. The parents of Late Baruah were also felicitated.

The Prabhakar Barua Memorial Trust had been providing services for the welfare of Assam Forest staff and made good contributions for uplifting the staff economic conditions. Similarly, the Forest Officers Wives Welfare Society had also felicitated the children of the employees of forest department who could secure good percentage during HSLC and Higher Secondary examination last year. The Society had been providing scholarship to the students for their higher education since some time.

The Forest Minister revealed that an insurance policy scheme for the welfare of forest staff had also been facilitated.
