All-party meet on issue of bio-metric cards

GUWAHATI, May 14 � In connection with receiving and issue of bio-metric cards, an all- political party meeting was held under the chairmanship of HK Deb Mahanta, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar at his office conference hall on May 7 last, an official release stated.

The meeting has obtained three major decisions in this regard. As per decision a member of a Family Identity Card (FIC) living separately would be treated as an old FIC holder if his name appeared in the old FIC. Such person can apply for a separate FIC enclosing a copy of the FIC, where his name exists along with other required documents. Their forms will be received during on going process of receiving application forms of old FIC holders subject to verification later on.

The meeting decided that application forms for Bio-Metric FIC as well as for the separated family members would be received by the concerned fair price.

Shop dealers and hand over to the concerned Area Officer of Food & Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Silchar for scrutiny and verification, who would later on issue the receipts for onward handling over to the concerned applicants within a period of five days excluding holidays, through the respective fair price shops.

The meeting also decided that if some existing FIC holders still left out they would be able to submit application forms till December 31 next after explaining reasons of failure to deposit their forms in time with proper justification, the release added.
