All Cong MLAs in Nagaland join NPF

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Nov 21 - All the eight Congress legislators of Nagaland have joined the ruling Naga Peoples Front (NPF) with Assembly Speaker Chotisuh Sazo accepting their merger with the regional party.

In a letter to the Speaker, NPF president Dr Shrhozelie Liezietsu on Friday said the merger of the eight erstwhile Congress legislators with the NPF was effected after fulfilling the merger as per the format required under the Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on Ground of Defection) Rules, 2003.

The eight Congress legislators whose merger with the NPF was accepted are SI Jamir, Tokheho Yepthomi, C Apok Jamir, S Hukavi Zhimomi, Dr Imtiwapang Aier, Imtikumzuk, Eshak Konyak and Khekaho Assumi.

In his plea to the Speaker, the NPF president requested him to accept the eight Congress legislators as NPF members in view of the merger.

The merger of all eight Congress legislators, who were suspended after they joined the NPF-led DAN III coalition under Chief Minister TR Zeliang literally means the Congress no longer exists in the State Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee president K Therie on Friday said the party executive has unanimously decided to expel six NPCC members and two Congress members for a period of three years with effect from November 20.

The expelled NPCC members include Supongmeren, Nillo Rengma, Vaprumo Demo, Konngam, Sulanthung, H Chuba and two Congress members include Prasilie Pienyu and GK Rengma.
