Ali-Aye-Ligang-Lilen celebrated at Silapathar

SILAPATHAR, March 19 � The 33rd Silapathar Kendriya Ali-Aye-Ligang-Lilen celebration was held with a two-day long programme on March 11 and 12 at Donyi-Polo Cultural Complex, Silapathar in a befitting manner.

The programme of Ali Aye-Ligang-Lilen began with the cultural flag hoisted by Rupa Nath Pegu, president of the celebration committee, which was followed by smriti tarpan by Amiya Pait, secretary of the celebration committee.

The main programme of Ali-Aye-Ligang� Liggad� (sowing of paddy) was formally opened by Motiram Tayeng, Padma Pegu, Rongmon Missong, Nobin Pait and several others.

The cultural stage was inaugurated by Nobin Pait, headmaster of Gowal Chapari MV School. Addressing the gatherings, he appealed to all the Mising community people to keep alive their own language, culture and tradition for their identity. The competitions like Aai-Nitom, Ligang Sonam, Gassattee Sonam and Anunitom were held on the day.

On the second day, cultural competition like Lotta Soman, Gumrag Soman were held. The open session and prize distribution programme was presided over by Rupa Nath Pegu, president of the celebration committee. In the open session, several speakers like Hari Narayan Pegu, vice president of Mising Agom Kebang, Bhuban Pegu, ex-MLA, Phaniram Tayeng, ex-MLA, Johan Doley, president TMPK etc delivered speech on the occasion.
