AKRSU call to withdraw support

By Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, April 20 The Biswajit Ray faction of the All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) has called upon independent member Atin Hazong, who won the BTC poll from Manas-Serfang in Chirang district, to withdraw his support to the Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) honouring the sentiments of the people of the constituency.

Hazong was the independent candidate backed by the ABMSU, AKRSU (Biswajit Ray), Bengali Student Youth Federation and Oboro Suraksha Samiti from the Manas-Serfang constituency.

The people of the constituency had supported Hazong to oust the BPF from the seat, but after winning the polls, Hazong extended his support to the BPF in the formation of the executive body in the council, allegedly ignoring the sentiments of the people of the constituency and without discussing the groups that backed him in the elections. So, the AKRSU has demanded that Hazong should withdraw his support to the BPF for the sake of the people.

When contacted, Hazong, however, said that Before giving support to the BPF, I had a discussion with my sympathizers. But AKRSU president has denied this claim and said, Hazong did not inform us before extending his support to the BPF.
