GUWAHATI, May 18 Announcing his resolve to go on fast for an indefinite period against the repressive measures of the State Government, which is out to foil the anti-mega-dam movement, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) general secretary Akhil Gogoi today said that his organisation would resist any move to transport construction materials to the Lower Subansiri Hydal Project site.

Akhil Gogoi told media persons at a press conference here that he would start his fast from 10 am tomorrow at Lakhidhar Bora Kshetra, Dighalipukhuripar in the city. He would be joined by the members of the eight other organisations which have teamed up with the KMSS to steer ahead the anti-mega-dam movement.

In the name of discussing the issues with the protestors, the government cheated us. Moreover, the people staging blockade against the transportation of construction materials, were time and again assaulted by the government and district authorities, Gogoi said.
