Akhil demands steps to end ethnic conflicts

By STAFF Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 5 Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) president Akhil Gogoi today observed a three-hour symbolic fast in support of his demand for administrative steps to bring an end to the ethnic conflict and clashes in the Bodoland Territorial Administrative District (BTAD) and Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) areas.

He also made an appeal to the people to engage themselves in bringing an end to all such conflicts and clashes in these two autonomous areas, besides demanding exclusion of those areas, which have over 51 per cent of non-Bodo and non-Rabha populations, from these two autonomous councils.

There is also a need to bring about a change in the models of the autonomous councils and to give more power to them, he said.
