AJYCP goodwill gesture for poor students

By Correspondent

UDALGURI, July 4 The Udalguri regional committee of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) distributed free textbooks along with financial assistance to ten poor but talented students of the Udalguri region at a function here recently.

The youth body distributed free textbooks to seven higher secondary first year students and three students of degree first year, and hoped that the goodwill gesture of the organisation would encourage the poor students in their pursuit of higher studies.

The function was addressed by Mukut Das and Himangshu Das, president and general secretary respectively of the AJYCP Udalguri district committee, among few others. The AJYCP leaders felt that the talented students should not only be honoured with mere certificates of proficiency by various organisations, but they should find out those talents belonging to the economically poor families who should be encouraged with free textbooks and some financial assistance, if it can be arranged, so that the money can come in handy to meet a portion of their college fees.

The student beneficiaries were Hirakjyoti Deka, Milan Baishya, Niramoni Mahaliya, Pori Das, Mridula Kalita, Rahul Sarmah and Lipika Das of HS first year and Chumi Sarmah, Madhusmita Deka and Jupitora Baishya of TDC first year.
