AJYCP demands special recruitment by LICI

By Correspondent

JORHAT, Nov 21 Staging a protest in front of the Jorhat Divisional Office of the LICI on Thursday, the district unit of the AJYCP demanded cent per cent recruitment of eligible local youths in various offices of the corporation in the State.

According to the AJYCP unit, several eligible youths of the State have been deprived of jobs in the LICI due to the negligence of the corporations higher recruitment authority as it has refrained from conducting a special recruitment drive in Assam and other north-eastern States.

Submitting a memorandum to the chairman of the insurance corporation, the AJYCP unit also demanded the use of Assamese for all official purpose in the State so that the common people can easily understand various rules and policy guidelines for insurance work.

As several people in the underdeveloped areas are not well-versed in the English language, they have allegedly been deprived of many beneficial schemes announced by the insurance corporation.

Besides, the corporation should spend a considerable amount of their profits for social work under their corporate social responsibility schemes. We also demanded that the chairman should set up a zonal office at Guwahati as they have done good business in the State, said Siba Kalita, president of the AJYCPs district unit.

If the LICI does not fulfil these demands by February, 2015, we will launch democratic protests across the State to stop its operations, Kalita threatened.
