AJYCP demands BCPL, OIL MDs from State

By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, May 14 - Resentment continues to brew here over the non-appointment of deserving Assamese officers to the posts of the Managing Director (MD) in the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) and the Oil India Limited (OIL).

The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has said that rejection of eligible Assamese officers to the top posts in Assam can only be perceived as deprivation, which the State has been subject to at various phases of history. It appears to be a big conspiracy against the people of Assam. The deserving officers have been denied top posts, both in OIL and BCPL. This is nothing but deprivation and step-motherly attitude of the Centre, said Homen Borgohain, general secretary, AJYCP, district committee.

The AJYCP submitted a memorandum to the district administration today, in which it urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to select an eligible person from the State for the top posts, stating that the step would repose faith on the efforts of the Centre to create a bond with the region. Appointment of an officer from Assam will be an honour to the martyrs of the Assam Agitation, he said.
