AJYCP concerned over attacks on indigenous people

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 26 - The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) today said the traders from outside Assam will have to shut their businesses in case there is a recurrence of the Nagaon-like incident in the State.

The youth body alleged that there has been a spurt in attacks on the indigenous people, which is not just unfortunate but also intolerable.

The planned and barbaric attack on a group of indigenous people in Nagaon on Wednesday last suggests that there are forces which are strengthening the hands of a section of people to dominate the indigenous communities. As such incidents have gone up after the BJP-led State government came to power, there is sufficient ground to believe that such incidents are patronised by the BJP and the RSS, AJYCP president in-charge Hemchandra Goswami and general secretary Palash Changmai said.

The Asom Yuba Parishad (AYP), the youth wing of the AGP, also decried the attack on indigenous people, demanding strict punishment to the persons involved in the attack.
