By Correspondent

HAILAKANDI, Nov 27 - AIUDF supremo Badaruddin Ajmal has reiterated his party stand on opposing the Congress party in the State and not to support it in any way in the coming elections.

Addressing a mammoth rally of party workers at Hailakandi on Thursday evening at Nazrul Sadan, Ajmal said that the Congress party is spreading rumours that the AIUDF will merge with the Congress before the State Assembly elections. He cautioned the party workers not to believe any false statement of the Congress party. He informed the workers that the AIUDF is trying to form a political alliance with all the secular parties in the State and for this it is maintaining a close link with Hagramas United Peoples Front in the Bodoland area. Besides, the AIUDF is also maintaining contact with the peasant leader Akhil Gogoi of the KMSS and the party may take his help during elections if required because he speaks for the deaf and dumb and underprivileged sections of the society.

He promised that AIUDF would bring Bihars Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav in the State within a month. He firmly announced that the AIUDF will play a vital role in the formation of new Government in Assam and without the help of his party, no party will be able to form the government, he added.

Attacking Assam Governor, PB Acharyya, Ajmal said that the intolerance in the State will increase if he continues in position and demanded his withdrawal from the State. He lamented that the father of Indian Constitution, Ambedkar might have been frustrated if he were alive today to see the activities of the present Assam Governor and said that a delegation of the party will soon meet the President and Prime Minister in New Delhi and will lodge a formal complaint against him for speaking against the minorities. He also attacked the BJP and said that this party is working on the behest of the RSS which is fuelling intolerance throughout the country.

The public meeting was presided over by the district president of the party, Hilal Uddin Barbhuiya and was also addressed by the general secretary of the party, Hafij Basir Ahmed Kashimi, Aminul Islam among others. They stressed the need of strengthening the party at the grassroot levels before the elections. Earlier, a big rally brought Badaruddin Ajmal to the town.
