Ajmal demands CBI probe into morphed photos

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, March 29 The publication of alleged morphed photographs showing him offering puja in a temple has landed AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal in a tight spot as he faces a fatwa declaring him an infidel (kafir).

A booklet distributed at a general body session of a faction of Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind at Deoband on March 24-25 has triggered a full-blown controversy. At the centre of it is president of the Arshad Madani faction of Jamiat, Abdul Jaleel Raghibi, who allegedly showed the pamphlet at the conference.

Addressing a press conference, the president of the AIUDF demanded a CBI inquiry. I was accused of idol worship and false pictures were also published. Moreover, they raised questions regarding my credentials of being a member of the advisory board (Majlise Shura) of Darul Uloom Deoband on the basis of these fake pictures and my removal from the post was demanded, an agitated Ajmal said.

Hinting at the possible involvement of the Assam Congress, he alleged that it was a controversy to malign his party keeping in mind the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. But he ruled out the possible involvement of senior leaders in the conspiracy, stating that they would not stoop so low.
