By A Correspondent

NAGAON, Aug 28 - Sensation prevails here after AIUDF MLA of Dhing LAC, Aminul Islam allegedly attacked and injured two district-level leaders of the party with a chair during a party meeting held today at Mukti Juzaru Bhavan near Nagaon Circuit House.

According to police sources as well as some eyewitnesses, in the alleged attack by MLA Islam, party leaders Motibur Rahman and Mehbub Ali were seriously injured and they were immediately admitted to Nagaon BP Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged by the victims in Nagaon PS and police too have registered a case in this regard. The sources, however, told mediapersons here that during the meeting, the victims had excitedly questioned and raised their fingers at the MLA in connection with partys internal agendas as well as some other issues. This made Islam furious and he attacked them with a chair which caused severe head injuries to both. Interestingly, following the incident when some party workers sought clarification on the MLAs violent act, local police rushed to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. In the meantime, Islam tactfully managed to escape from the spot.

Our Staff Reporter in Guwahati adds: On being contacted, AIUDF general secretary Haidor Hussain Bora termed the entire incident as a conspiracy against the party and said that Islam was not involved in it.

Our party leaders had informed the police administration in Nagaon yesterday itself that some provocative acts by certain elements may take place. Some persons are trying to tarnish the image of the party. Islam did not assault anybody. We know for certain that Islam was not involved, Bora said.
