AIUDF demands BTC dissolution

GUWAHATI, July 28 � The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) today demanded dissolution of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) BTC should be dissolved immediately and punishmentshould be given to the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of the troubled districts of BTAD areas for their negligence of duty and involvement in the violent incidents.

In a memorandum to the Prime Minister, the party also called for steps to seize the illegal arms if any and tackling of the BTAD administration by the Central Government till dissolution as the BTC administration is involved in the violence and the State Government has totally failed in curbing the violent incidents in the BTAD areas. It also held the Chief Minister of the State, who is also holding the Home portfolio, solely responsible for this violence.

It called for deployment of sufficient Army personnel in the affected areas and shifting of all the affected Muslim people, who have taken shelter outside the BTAD areas, to the BTAD areas with proper Army security and sending all the inmates of the camps to their original places within seven days.

Besides, it called for compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of each of those killed in the incidents and Rs 5 to each of the injured persons and adequate compensation to the property lost by the people.

All the camps should be registered and certificates of internally displaced persons should be issued to their inmates, it said in the memorandum.
