GUWAHATI, May 21 � With a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory in the final against Raghav Jaisinghania of Madhya Pradesh at Kandivally in Mumbai today, Assam boy Parikshit Somani took home the U-12 title in the AITA-Championship Series Tennis Tournament.
Earlier, Parikshit performed creditably in two AITA tournaments at Hyderabad and Mumbai respectively. All Assam Tennis Association president Subhash Das, while congratulating Parikshit provided the travel grant of Rs 20,000.
Another Assam boy, Madhurjyya Dutta, pairing with Rishab Dev of Punjab went down to Sasank Nokial (Delhi) and Jude Raimond (Andhra Pradesh) 4-6, 6-7 in the U-16 final played at Andheri, Mumbai today.
Both Parikshit and Madhurjyya will now play in another AITA tournament at MSLTA complex, Mumbai from May 24 to 28.
