GUWAHATI, June 12 - The AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls got underway at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex in Chachal here today.
Only six first round matches of the boys U-12 singles event could be played owing to incessant rain. Top seed Andy Thaosen of Assam, sixth seed Jigyashman Hazarika along with unseeded Sudhanshu Barkataki moved to the next round with straight sets victory in their respective matches. The finals are slated to be held on June 16, stated a press release.
Results: (Boys U-12) Top seed Andy Thaosen beat Varun Aditya Kalita 6-1, 6-3; Ashwajit Senjam beat Aman Buragohain 6-4, 6-2; Sudhansu Barkataki beat Aritro Ghosh 6-2, 6-1; 7th seed K Murali Satwik beat Debarshi Sen 6-4, 6-0; 6th Jigyashman Hazarika beat JN Shanjay Shah 6-0, 6-2; Neel Niranjan Joglekar beat Twijling Debbarma 6-0, 6-1.
