AIDUF has tacit alliance with BJP: Anjan

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 7 - Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta today alleged that All India Democratic Front (AIUDF) led by Badruddin Ajmal and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has a tacit alliance.

Dutta further alleged that during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal was bribed by the BJP and the former fielded candidates at Mangaldoi and Guwahati to defeat the Congress candidates. Likewise, this time too, the AIUDF has fielded candidates in many Assembly constituencies of Upper, Central and Lower Assam districts to facilitate the victory of the BJP candidates, Dutta alleged.

In a statement here, Dutta said that Ajmal has been maintaining a good relation with the BJP for quite a long time. Both the BJP and the AIUDF, which are communal in their approaches, have tied knots and they have been trying to sow the seeds of divisive politics in Assam, he said.

He further asserted that after the BJP assuming power at the Centre in 2014, Badruddin Ajmal has expanded his business empire and emerged as a business tycoon. Congress has all the information relating to the legal and illegal properties owned by Ajmal across the globe, Dutta claimed.

He alleged that the AIUDF chief has been using the minorities as the pawns for his personal gains.

After the 2013 Medartari boat mishap in which 43 persons lost their lives, Ajmal made an official announcement that he would extend a grant of Rs 2 crore to each of the families of those killed in that tragic incident. Besides, Ajmal also said that each of the AIUDF MLAs and the MPs of the party would donate one months salary to the families of the victims.

But those pledges of the AIUDF have remained to be materialised. This exposes the real face of Ajmal who masquerades as a saviour of the minorities, Dutta said and dared Ajmal to deny the above charges.
