GUWAHATI, Dec 21 � The cultural affairs department, Assam has extended financial help to veteran actor Biju Phukan who was critically ill and was admitted to a city hospital recently. The cultural affairs department has given a sum of Rs 30,000 from its Artist�s Welfare Fund to the actor who suffered a stroke a week ago.
The actor was visited at the hospital by Assam State Film (Finance & Dev) Corporation Ltd chairperson, Bobeeta Sharma, who was accompanied by Nipon Goswami, veteran actor and member of the Advisory Board of Artist Welfare Fund and Nazreen Ahmed, MD, ASFFDC.
Madhurima Barua Sen, Director, Cultural Affairs, Assam, was also among those who went to the hospital to meet Biju Phukan and wished him early recovery. This was stated in a official press release.
