AICC team to visit strife-hit districts

GUWAHATI, Aug 27 � The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has sent a five-member delegation to take stock of the prevailing situation in the strife-torn districts of Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Chirang and Dhubri at the instance of its president Sonia Gandhi. The delegation arrived in Guwahati today, said an Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) press release here.

The delegation includes AICC secretary and MP Parvez Hasmi, AICC secretary Major Ved Prakash, chairman of the AICC Sewa Dal Mahendra Joshi, AICC secretary Joydev Jena and MP Ram Chandra Khuntia.

The team will visit the strife-torn areas of the four districts and the relief camps sheltering the victims of the conflict.

APCC general secretary Ankur Dutta, secretaries Akshay Rajkhowa, Raja Das, Pradyut Bhuyan, Enamul Hai, Jayanta Das and Arun Tewari and Chandan Barua of the Sewa Dal will assist the delegation, said the press release.
