AICC observers reaching Itanagar tomorrow

NEW DELHI, Oct 21 � AICC observers appointed to resolve the political crisis in Arunachal Pradesh is likely to reach Itanagar on October 23 to begin consultation process on change of leadership in the State.

AICC sources said that the team led by Union Power Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde would arrive in Guwahati on October 22 and leave for Arunachal Pradesh the next day. The observers include secretary in-charge Dhaniram Shandil and former union minister, Bijoy Krishna Handique.

Sources said as Chief Minister, Jarbom Gamlin would be in Delhi to take part in the National Development Council (NDC) meet on October 21, they had to reschedule the meeting to October 23. The Chief Minister has been instructed to rush back to Itanagar after the NDC meeting.

As reported, the team of observers has been assigned by Congress president, Sonia Gandhi to visit Itanagar to resolve the political impasse within a week. All the MLAs, who were camping in the Capital, meanwhile, have gone back to the State after the High Command�s dictate.

Sources said that the delegation plans to talk to the MLAs individually for their opinion before convening a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) to settle the leadership issue. A section of MLAs owing allegiance to PCC president, Nabam Tuki have been pressing for change of leadership.
