Agriculture info centre at Mirza

MIRZA, Sept 17 - The Assam Agriculture University (AAU), Jorhat, in collaboration with Horticulture Research Centre (HRC), Kahikuchi (Guwahati) has set up an Agriculture Technology Information Centre at Rangamati near here with an aim to provide necessary inputs to farmers of Palasbari LAC to help facilitate them resort to scientific method of cultivation and get better profit and increased production.

The AAU deputed its six students to run the centre and help farmers get inputs on scientific agriculture technology.

The centre was set up under Rural Agriculture Work Experience Programme (RAWEP) of the AAU and basic aim of the centre is to create awareness among farmers on modern agriculture technology in a bid to help empower the farmers� community.

In a meeting held on the occasion recently, former legislator of Palasbari LAC, Pranab Kalita has inaugurated the Information Centre before a galaxy of eminent agriculture scientists and over a hundred farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, former MLA stressed on commercialisation of agriculture to help farmers go forward and get better profit and income.

The meeting was presided over by president of Rangamati Primary Milk producers� Samabai Samiti Ltd, Ramesh Chandra Malakar. The meeting was addressed, among others, by Dr Jayanta Kumar Sarma, Dr Sailen Gogoi, Niru Gogoi and Dr Gopal Krishna Sarma of Horticulture Research Centre, Kahikuch (Guwahati).
