AGP will win majority of seats at Bongaigaon: Choudhury

By Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, Dec 4 - Regional party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), which is also an ally of ruling BJP in the State, will win 15 of the 16 gaon panchayat seats in Bongaigaon Assembly constituency in the forthcoming panchayat polls, claimed Bongaigaon legislator Phani Bhusan Choudhury in a meeting with the local mediapersons at Greater Bongaigaon Press Club here.

Stating that he had to lose 75,000 Muslim votes due to his partys alliance with BJP in the last Assembly polls, his party has, therefore, decided to contest the forthcoming panchayat polls alone. Choudhury reiterated that Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) will remain invincible in Bongaigaon Assembly seat till he remained alive.

Choudhury also announced that people of Bongaigaon will get an engineering college, a government B Ed college and a drinking water supply project in the New Year. However, he refrained from making any comment on setting up a government law college, university campus and upgradation of Industrial Training Institute (ITI).

Since Bongaigaon district headquarters lack sufficient government land, it has become difficult to construct a parking lot for vehicles here, Choudhury added. The legislator has plans to develop a new project at the water body (motor gaddha) in front of Bongaigaon College.
