AGP releases list of 31 candidates

GUWAHATI, Feb 4 � Main Opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today announced the first list of its candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State.

The list of 31 candidates comprised of 15 new faces, including youth candidates.

However, veteran of the likes of Atul Bora (Senior) and Thaneswar Boro were also named in the list. While Bora will contest from Dispur constituency, Boro would be fielded in Rangiya constituency.

Announcing the list at a press conference, party chief Chandra Mohan Patowary said that the list of candidates have been selected on the basis of their popularity amongst the voters and contribution towards the society.

�The list of other candidates would also be released soon after discussion with our prospective allies,� Patowary stated.

The list of other candidates includes Sahidul Alam Choudhury (Algapur) Pulokesh Baruah (Borkhetri), Rekhharani Das Boro (Barama-ST), Hiranya Konwar (Mahmora), Hitendra Nath Goswami (Jorhat), Atul Bora-Junior (Bokaghat), Jagadish Bhuyan (Sadiya), Bhupen Ray (North Abhayapuri), Azizur Rahman Talukdar (South Karimganj), Padam Bahadur Chauhan (Tamulpur), Pranabjit Chaliha (Sibasagar), Pradip Konwar (Thawra), Jyotish Das(East Goalpara, Umesh Chandra Das (Roha-SC), Abu Adil Md Inamul Haque (Dhubri), Amiya Kumar Bora (Golaghat), Kamrul Hussain Choudhury (Lahorighat), Sheikh Mansur Rahman (West Bilasipara), Bijoy Tiru (Rangapara), Naba Kumar Doley (Dhokuakhana), Naren Sonowal (Naharkatia), Abdul Salam Shah (Mankachar), Anup Dutta(Katigoda), Santosh Kumar Sarkar (Golakganj), Fakrul Alam Mazumdar (Silchar), Jalanta Sengupta (Hailakandi), Kailash Chandra Rabha (Jaleswar), Nazrul Haque Mazar Bhuyan (Katalisara) and Dwijmoni Sinha (Lakhipur).
