AGP protests attack on PAC members

GUWAHATI, June 2 � Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) members today staged dharnas in the district and sub-divisional headquarters of the State against the attack on the members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the State Assembly on May 29 at Nagaon allegedly by some Congress activists.

The members of the party also sent memorandums to the Speaker of the Assembly through the Deputy Commissioners and Sub-divisional Officers on the issue. The party alleged in a statement here this evening that the silence maintained by the Chief Minister on the issue proves government support to such undemocratic activities. The party warned of intense agitational programmes in the event of recurrence of such an incident.

KMSS: The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti in a statement has hailed the appeal by the Nagaon Chief Judicial Magistrate to the Supreme Court of India to hand over the task of inquiring into the May 29 incident to the CBI.

The observations made by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Nagaon on the issue prove that a state of emergency is in force in Assam.

Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain is running a mafia raj in Nagaon, Samaguri, Raha, etc., Legislative Assembly Constituencies. Similar situations are prevailing in the Jalukbari LAC of Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. And under the leadership of Minister Gautam Roy, such situations are prevailing in the Barak Valley areas also, alleged the Samiti.
