By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

DIBRUGARH, March 14 - Regardless of the BJP-BPF-AGP alliance, the district unit of the Asom Gana Parishad today decided that like any other alliance member the district unit will go all alone for the ensuing panchayat polls in the 93 gaon panchayats and 23 zila parishad constituencies of the district.

The district AGP president Punakan Barua following an executive body meeting of the organisation today announced that the party will field candidates in all the seats of panchayats. He said that party workers seeking to contest as ward members, panchayat presidents, councillors and zila parishads in the panchayat polls must submit their applications before March 23, 2018. The candidates for various seats will be approved and allotted only after scrutiny by the district body, the party informed in a release.

The party has decided to carry out a massive campaign in all the panchayats from March 16 and, accordingly, called upon all the workers to engage themselves in the campaign. The party has asked workers to highlight among the masses the corruption and exploitation of the Congress in the panchayats and the anti-Assamese stand of the BJP like seeking to grant citizenship to Bangladeshis on the basis of religion.
