AGP gears up for panchayat polls in Sootea

JAMUGURIHAT, Jan 31 � The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has started its preparation for the next year�s panchayat polls in 75 Sootea constituency.

In a meeting held at No 3 Sootea gaon panchayat at Bagalibari, it has decided to fight the election in right earnest and in full force. As many as seven central leaders which included Keshav Mahanta, vice president, MLA Kaliabor, Joseph Toppro vice president and MP Tezpur, Hiranya Konwar, Apurba Bhattacharjee, both vice presidents, Atul Borah and Padma Hazarika both general secretaries took part in the meeting which was presided over by Khagen Mudoi, president No 3 Sootea gaon panchayat.

All the central leaders criticised the present Government for its inaction and rampant corruption and asked all the rank and file of the party to fight unitedly so that they can keep this record intact. Padma Hazarika, MLA Sootea and general secretary of the party welcomed a young Congress leader Uday Shankar Saikia who joined the (AGP) party.
