AGP flays Cong for misusing Govt machinery

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 26 The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today accused the ruling Congress of blatant misuse of government machinery at Rahul Gandhis rally and also added that what the Gandhi scion said lacked any substance or relevance with the situation in Assam.

Addressing the media here today, AGP president PK Mahanta said, It is ironic that Rahul Gandhi had to come from outside and give lessons to Tarun Gogoi on how to handle the issue of self-immolation by the KMSS activist Pranab Boro. He blasted Gogoi for his comments equating Gandhi with Bir Chilarai and Lachit Borphukan.

Gandhi has said that the loot we did in three months has not been done by them in 50 years. The truth is that we were never part of the NDA regime at the Centre. He does not even possess the correct information, Mahanta said.

He added, Gandhi, however, remained mute on the scams that took place under successive Congress regimes, beginning from the Jeep Supply scam which took place just after Independence.

Mahanta said it was the AGP and the Assam Accord which brought all benefits to Assam. But now if you ask Tarun Gogoi who was the first person to land on the Moon, he will claim to have done that even before Neil Armstrong. Gogoi is now taking credit for everything, said the AGP chief.

The former Chief Minister added that Rahul Gandhi did not even have the courage to face the media and that is why his interaction with senior journalists was not broadcast live.
