AGP condemns Morigaon incident

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 13 - The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today condemned the physical attack on police officials by some Congress members in Morigaon.

In a statement the AGP said that the incident was an outcome of the Congress feverish attempt at grabbing power in the State with the votes of Bangladeshi nationals. The Congress is now busy providing protection to the illegal Bangladeshi migrants in its greed for power. Because of this, it has gone to the extent of protecting the illegal migrants, whose Bangladeshi nationality has been confirmed by the foreigners tribunal.

The Morigaon incident was a result of this greed for power of the ruling party, said the regional party.

Congress Morigaon leader Habibur Rahman Siddiqui led the assailants, who attacked the police officials to free a Bangladeshi national declared a foreigner by the foreigners tribunal, said the statement issued by the regional partys general secretaries Ramendra Narayan Kalita and Dr Kamala Kalita.
