AGP admits failure in detection, deportation

By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, Feb 20 During the Jugdan Anusthan of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) at its party office in Chowkidinghee today where AJYCP leader Chandan Handique and over hundred joined the party, AGP president Atul Bora called upon the party workers to create political awareness among the masses, given that gullible people were simply carried away by promises and emotions.

We must educate the masses about the problems and potentials of the state and about how political parties like the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party were using them as mere vote banks for political gain. The Bharatiya Janata Partys actions are just opposite to what they promised before recent Lok Sabha polls. They betrayed the people who voted them with full faith Bora said.

On the illegal Bangladeshi issue, the AGP president admitted that they could not identify Bangaldeshis during their regime as also failed in deporting any illegal foreigners during the period but said that the failure was due to the non cooperation by the then union government.

Bora said that the AGP government was not extended the necessary help and cooperation by the then government agencies of the central government. Since we failed, the people of Assam felt that may be the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could solve the issues that were posing threat to the state, its people and the land. The Assamese people started reposing faith on the BJP party as the leaders of the saffron party made several promises to the people of the country and the state through massive rallies and media campaign. The BJP leaders like the Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi managed to win the hearts of the people by making big promises and by exploiting their sentiments. But today BJPs policies on illegal Bangladeshi issue are clear. Like the Congress, the BJP is also playing vote bank politics. How can the BJP forget the promises it made to the people of Assam few months back, the AGP leader asked.

If the people of the state think that BJP is an alternative to the Congress, they are wrong, he said. By now the Assamese people must realize how they have been betrayed by the BJP. They must question why BJP is trying to give refugee status to the Hindu Bangladeshis, why Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a big dam project in Bhutan and why they are now giving away Assam land to Bangladesh in the border, Bora said.
