GUWAHATI, July 22 - The Assam Football Association (AFA) said it will punish the guilty person in the case where a coach allegedly demanded money from a player.
When contacted, AFA secretary Ankur Dutta said they will take the matter seriously and will take action against the person who is found guilty.
Arup Baruah, a player of the Tezpur United FC team who took part in the ongoing Assam State Premier League, alleged that his coach Santanu Basu is demanding money from him for helping in getting inter district transfer certificate. Arup, in a written statement to the secretary of the All India Football Federation said he got an offer to join the Oil India FC and requested his coach to release him from the Tezpur team.
But, Arup alleged that the coach, who handles the players in terms of coaching and officials matters of the Tezpur team, demanded him money for releasing from the club.
