NALBARI, Aug 29 - Minister of Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Dr Bhumidhar Barman, has inaugurated the newly-constructed Jiban Silpi Adya Sarma Park here at a function held recently.
Inaugurating the park, Dr Barman appreciated the initiative of Nalbari Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Om Prakash in constructing the park to commemorate the memory of the renowned artist. A statue of Guruji Adya Sarma erected in the park was also unveiled by noted artist Jnanedra Barkakati at the same function.
Speaking at the meeting, Barkakati called upon Dr Barman and the Nalbari DC to establish a cultural project in the town in memory of Guruji Adya Sarma. Appreciating the role of the Nalbari Deputy Commissioner, Barkakati said that the controversy over the statue of Guruji Adya Sarma is very unfortunate.
The meeting was addressed by noted critic Sashi Sarma,Vodafone official Sanjib Bora and Nalbari DC Dr Om Prakash, among others. It may be mentioned here that the Nalbari DC constructed the park with financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh provided by Vodafone.
