GUWAHATI, June 11 � Admission for the session 2012-13 for the Assam State Open School under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council will start from June 15 in all its accredited study centres (ASCs). Interested learners can procure the prospectus along with admission form at a cost of Rs 200 from the centres, an official release from AHSEC said.

The last date for submission of admission forms to the ASCs is September 30 (without fine) and October 31 (with fine).

The AHSEC had established the Assam State Open School in collaboration with the National Institute of Open Schooling under the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development with the objective of providing an opportunity to all to pursue education up to +2 stage.

As per recommendation of the Central Advisory Board of Education, 15 per cent of the total enrolment in secondary and higher secondary education is to be taken care of by the open learning system.

Gauhati University vide its notification No. GU/AC/Equ. Com/2011/844-848 dated 22.7.2011 had accorded to the students who passed from the Assam State Open School a status equivalent to those who passed from the AHSEC or any other board recognized by the university.

The National Institute of Open Schooling had also notified that certificates issued by the Assam State Open School to its learners after completion of the HS course (Senior Secondary Course) would be treated at par with the certificates issued by NIOS.
