Adivasi students to continue stir over ST status

GUWAHATI, April 25 � The 16th annual conference of the All Adivasi Students� Association of Assam decided to continue the agitational programme on the demand for inclusion of Adivasis in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list.

The meet demanded increase of daily wages of tea garden workers to Rs 200, provincialisation of all existing lower primary schools in the tea garden areas and establishment of higher education institutions and ITIs in Adivasi-dominated areas.

The meet also decided to hold district and regional annual conferences by the end of June.
