Adivasi student body postpones stir programme

GUWAHATI, Aug 26 - The All Adivasi Students� Association of Assam (AASAA) today decided to postpone its agitation programme, scheduled for August 27-28, to September 20.

The Association will carry out the strike demanding a hike in increment of the daily wage of tea workers to Rs 350.

The organisation had earlier declared that it would carry out economic blockade in all the tea gardens of Assam from August 27 and lock out and gherao all the branch offices of the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangh (ACMS) across Assam on August 28 over the undue delay in fixing the daily wage of the tea workers. The AASAA strongly condemned the ACMS for working against the cause of tea workers.
