Adda Short Film Festival on Dec 10

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 31 The eighth edition of the popular Adda Short Film Festival would be held on December 10 in Guwahati. The festival has played a prominent role in encouraging the short film makers of the State and promoting film making among the younger generation.

Like every year, this year too, critically acclaimed short films have been invited by the organisers from across the world.

Last year, we screened films that had been awarded in the Cannes Film Festival. This year too, our audience can expect a good package of films in the category of invited films, Jhulan Krishna Mahanta, secretary of the organising committee said while addressing the media here.

There are two other categories of film screening, where the local talent would get an opportunity to exhibit their skill and also to win prizes. The first and second best films would win cash awards of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively along with certificates.

Films made with mobile phones would also be considered as entries in both the categories, the organisers said.

Altogether 500 films would be shortlisted in the competition section. The joining fee is Rs 500. In the non-competition category, 300 films would be shortlisted and the joining fee for that is Rs 200.

Films based on animation, fiction and non-fiction topics, with maximum duration of 15 minutes would only be accepted as entries. Two DVD copies of the film, one data CD containing two still photos from the film, bio-data and two passport size photographs of the film maker and the film synopsis would be required for the purpose, he added.

The last date for submitting the entries is December 1, 2011. The web address of Adda is www.addafilmfest. webs.com.
