Active virus cases decline in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Dec 13 - The number of active COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh continued to decline as 22 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday after they recovered from the disease.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease in the State rose to 16,185, taking the overall recovery rate to 98.03 percent. Consequently, the number of active cases reduced to 269, according to a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here.

On the other hand, with the detection of 12 new cases, the tally of confirmed cases surged to 16,509. Shi-Yomi reported the highest number of four infections, followed by Itanagar Capital Complex with three and West Kameng, East Kameng, West Siang, East Siang and Changlang with one case each.

Six of the new cases were asymptomatic. The State has so far collected a total of 3,68,526 samples, including 546 on Saturday, for testing.

Fifty-five people have succumbed to the virus in the State so far and the fatality rate stands at 0.33 percent, the bulletin said.

On Friday, the State�s active virus cases dipped below the 300-mark for the first time in the last six months.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu has appreciated the frontline health workers and others but reminded the citizens about the need to follow the COVID-19 safety protocols.
