ACKS meet discusses problems of tea workers

DOOMDOOMA , April 11 - The 60th bi-ennial general body meeting of Doomdooma Circle of Assam Chah Karmachari Sangha ( ACKS ) was held today at its office premises situated at Wood Road of Doomdooma town. The meeting began with the hoisting of flag and lightening of lamp by the circle president Bimal Baruah, who also chaired the meeting. Over 150 delegates from 50 tea gardens of Doomdooma Circle attended the meeting. The meeting discussed various grievances of the tea workers and passed a number of resolutions. Earlier, the circle secretary Girish Chandra Borpatragohain presented his secretarial report and audit report of the last two years and the meeting unanimously passed both the reports. Munindra Nath Konwar, a retired Assistant Labour Commissioner and the legal advisor of ACKS delivered a lecture on industrial dispute settlement in the meeting. Two retired tea workers - Hitesh Borgohain of Anandabagh T E and Khagen Borah of Gangabari T E were felicitated. A new executive body of Doomdooma Circle ACKS was formed in the meeting with Bimal Baruah as president, Bidyut Bhattacharjee, Heera Sonowal and Alen Gogoi as vice - presidents, Girish Chandra Borpatragohain as secretary and Biren Adhyapok as treasurer. On the other hand, Girish Chandra Borpatra-gohain, Biren Adhyapok, Hitendra Baruah , Achyut Pujari and J R Dutta were nominated to represent the Doomdooma Circle in the Central Committee of the ACKS.
