GUWAHATI, March 20 - A 26-year-old lady advocate practising in the Gauhati High Court suffered an acid attack at Bharalumukh last evening. She was admitted to the GMCH and is currently getting treatment at the Sankardeva Nethralaya for eye treatment.
She suffered burn injuries on her neck and chin as well.
Police has detained an advocate, Dibakar Baishya Sahu, for questioning. He used to be her colleague and police suspect that the attack could be the fallout of a one-sided love affair.
Police said the incident occurred when the woman, who hails from Lakhimpur, was walking back to her rented accommodation at Silpukhuri around 6.30 pm. The miscreant threw acid on her and escaped in no time.
