Achyut Lahkar better

GUWAHATI, Oct 30 - The condition of Achyut Lahkar, the doyen of the Assamese mobile theatre movement currently undergoing treatment at Hayat Hospital, has improved.

Lahkar was admitted to the hospital on October 27 following complaints of high blood sugar and high blood pressure.

A hospital spokesman said that even though Lahkar continues to be in the ICU, he is stable and is taking food.

Cultural Affairs Minister Bismita Gogoi visited the ailing artiste today and announced an amount of Rs 1 lakh for Lahkar.

Filmmaker Jones Moholia is also undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailment at the hospital since yesterday.
