Accolades for short film

GUWAHATI, May 14 - Assamese short film Bhranti (Fallacy Beholds), directed by Duliajan-based Arindam Barooah, which deals with a sensitive theme has been selected for various film festivals in and outside India.

Bhranti, the seven-minute short film is based on the theme of misbelief/fallacy towards physically challenged people. It�s a story of two best friends, one differently abled who is neglected and treated as an omen in the society by his best friend�s mother and how their friendship faces challenges.

The film impressed the jury and received official selection in the 6th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2016, Delhi. Adding another feather to the cap, it has been adjudged the second and third best short film at Blitzschlag MNIT 2016 Film Festival, Jaipur and Pukaar Short Film Festival 2016, Mumbai respectively.

It has also gone international with its official selection at Barcelona Planet Film Festival 2016, Spain. Other selection includes Golden Frames 2016 � International Short Film Festival, Mumbai and BRICS Film Festival � Young Director�s Cut! 2016, Meerut.

The film�s cast includes Jeeta Sonowal, Jiten Das, Saahil, Bitupon Dutta and various child artistes from Duliajan. The dialogues have been penned by Rita Bhuyan Barooah. Cinematography is by Nishanta Singha and Bhaskar Jyoti Dutta, while music and editing have been done by Abhijit Bhattacharjya. The film was shot at Dulia Gaon in the outskirts of Duliajan.
